An agreement to manufacture autonomic vehicles has been made by BMW, Intel And computer vision firm Mobileye. These three companies, being consolidated, will manufacture such cars which will be able to steer without having any help from driver. These vehicles will be manufactured in such a way that will drive very safely in highways as well as in any other roads of any areas.
BMW informed that the collaboration of BMW, Intel and Mobileye shows a probability to produce robot cars by the year 2021. This partnership was declared on the day when US officilas began an investigation into a fatal car crash involving a Tesla Model S, to which self-driving technology could have contributed.
BMW said, “BMW, Intel and Mbileye are likely to produce such computer and sensor systems that in future, human contribution in driving will be reduced apparently. We are really hopeful to manufacture vehicles that will be able to operate autonomously without any kind of human assistance while driving”.
In a statement, the three companies mentioned that they are persuaded to consider travels easier and safer because of the automated driving technology. They also want their research to be more available so that, the other vehicle manufacturing companies get inspired to adopt this new automated driving technology.
Now, BMW is giving its focus on “Highly Automated Driving” which was supposed to be demonstrated in the current year. Some other widespread experiments were about to be initiated by the year 2017. The newly manufactured autonomous car which is the output of the partnership is about to be electric and named the iNext. Other vehicles in the i-range include the i8 hybrid and the i3 all-electric vehicle.
