Popular social media ‘Facebook’ is going to get fined 1.5 lakh Euros (1.66 Lakh US Dollars). Data Protection Watchdog CNIL has fined this amount to Facebook as they failed to provide security for users’ information from the ad providers.
CNIL also informed-Facebook has faced the same investigation even in Belgium, Netherlands, Spain and Germany. Besides, the fine which has been imposed on Facebook is very poor in comparison with their company revenue and market price. The company’s marginal income is around 8000 million dollar and share market capital is around 435000 million dollars.
On the other hand, ignoring CNIL’s decision, Facebook has given a statement. The statement says-Facebook usually emphasizes most on the confidentiality of the users. The policy has been made simpler to show how we are using information in order to make Facebook more developed.
Last year, CNIL gave Facebook a time-limit to stop monitoring the web activities of the non-users without their consent. Besides, the firm also issued a prohibitory order over sending users’ personal information to USA.
