ECNEC Approves 'IT Business Incubator Installation' Project in CUET

Publish On : 06/06/2017

The project of ‘IT Business Incubator Installation’ in Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) has been approved in the 28th meeting of Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 and presided over by the honorable Prime Minister. The proposal of this project was placed by the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Division.

This project has been initiated aiming to support the university graduates to get them developed as entrepreneurs, establish an effective communication between the university and IT industry, create opportunities for research and innovative activities for the students and arrange for physical infrastructure and concerned facilities.

Currently, above 9000 IT business incubators are available throughout the whole world. As per the information of National Business Incubation Association (NBIA) in 2005, around 10 million employment opportunities have been created through these incubators only in North America. Even, our neighboring country India has more than 70 incubators, whereas China has above 700. In China and India, it has been possible to create employment opportunities through the installation of university based business incubators. Many new and successful entrepreneurs have been established in IT sector. If the required facilities are provided in the university level for the purpose of creating new entrepreneurs and encouraging innovative activities in Bangladesh, the scope of participation in global competition for Bangladesh will be created and hopefully, an opportunity will be created as well to earn foreign currency through it.
