Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) raised a demand for 15% VAT exemption on internet usage. Besides, the association also requested for the reconsideration of the decision taken in the national budget regarding increasing the additional tax on telecommunication infrastructure and SIM tax.
This demand to balance the corporate tax in telecom industry was raised in a press conference held at Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. In this sector, the existing corporate tax is 45%.
Secretary General of AMTOB Mr. T.I.M Nurul Kabir delivered the key note speech in the press conference where the official correspondents of other mobile phone operators were also present.
