ICT (Information and Communication Technology) State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak spoke of developing a policy on new innovations besides giving importance on it in a seminar titled ‘National Information and Communication Technology Policy 2015’ (‘জাতীয় তথ্য ও যোগাযোগ প্রযুক্তি নীতিমালা ২০১৫’ যুগোপযোগীকরণ কর্মশালায়) held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center, Dhaka on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. In the seminar, he also mentioned to develop ICT policy very soon.
Palak said-We, sometimes, have to face different social complications due to lacking of innovative ideas. Innovators get interested in new innovations and ideas only when they face such kind of difficulty. We have already established Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy. Besides this, it is also essential to present Bangladesh before the whole world as a research field and a test case, in order to make people more interested in innovation.
He added-Currently, Bangladesh occupies the 36th position in Inclusive Development across the world and best in South Asia region which means we are on right track. For this, we need to develop policy. We have already Education Policy, Women Policy, ICT Policy and we are still working on them to get them fully prepared for upcoming future.
President of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) Mustafa Jabbar delivered the key note speech in the seminar, whereas the special guest was the Country Director of UNDP Bangladesh Mr. Sudipto Mukerjee and the program was presided over by the Acting Secretary of ICT Division Mr. Subir Kishore Chowdhury.
Among others, the founder of e-commerce company Bagdoom, FBCCI Director and President of Venture Capital Association Shamim Ahsan, Policy Advisor of a2i Mr. Aneer Chowdhury were also present in the program.
