Finally, Robi is going to get recognized officially for its alliance with Airtel. As per news source, Robi was supposed to receive the ‘Order of Merger of License’ from Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on Thursday, June 8, 2017.
After getting the approval of merger in around 9 months, these two leading mobile phone operators had been being operated through Robi since last couple of months. But, due to some financial complications, BTRC didn’t deliver the license till date.
Chief People’s Officer of Robi Mr. Motiul Islam Nowshad attending a press conference regarding the allocated budget of the association of mobile phone operators AMTOB held on June 7, 2017, stated-The formality of the merger is being done properly. This initiative will be considered fruitful for both the operators. Gradually, it will also get transmitted among the subscribers, as he also mentioned.
Previously, Robi stated for several times that they wouldn’t need to get such license from BTRC for their alliance. But, due to having some complications regarding additional charge and VAT demanded by BTRC, Robi, being compelled, is going to receive the ‘Order of Merger of License’ from BTRC by providing them bank guarantee. They have already refunded 3.4 MHz wave of Airtel to BTRC.
