Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has taken an initiative to provide license for Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) in our country on trial basis. The commission is now up to develop a policy to provide the license for the service operations and for this, a committee has already been formed for developing a licensing policy.
An MVNO license holding company can provide telecommunication service without installation of their own network system. In this regard, subscribing different services from one or more cell phone operators on retailing prices, MVNO usually sells them to their subscribers through their own marketing system. As per the license, they usually get all kinds of service related facilities including voice and data based services. Due to taking services from different companies, the subscribers, too, get their required standard services through MVNO.
One of the BTRC leading officials said-A decision has been taken to initiate MVNO services in our country on trial basis and policy development in this regard is already on process. An approval will be provided for initiating this service on trial basis only after the policy gets finalized. MVNO can contribute, even in standardization of telecommunication services.
