A new company named ‘Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Limited’ is going to be formed to operate country’s first artificial satellite ‘Bangabandhu Satellite-1’. The company’s approved capital is taka 50000 million and each of its 5000 million shares costs taka 10.
The proposal of the company’s formation got approved in the regular cabinet meeting presided over by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, held on July 3, 2017.
Bangladesh is going to participate in Satellite Club very soon and the procedure to launch ‘Bangabandhu Satellite-1’ is almost done, as Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam informed.
Post and Telecommunication Division firstly proposed to form this company. State Minister of Post and Telecommunication Division Tarana Halim stated in a press conference held in last May-‘Bangabandhu Satellite-1’ is likely to be launched in the first or last week of next December and its commercial operations will get initiated from June of the following year. She also added-The satellite will be launched from Florida, USA and now it’s being developed in France.
