National Mobile Application Contest got held recently for the first time in Bangladesh. After the contest got held throughout the country, the result announcement and award giving ceremony of the contest was held at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh Auditorium, Dhaka on May 4, 2017. Eight apps became champion in eight categories, which today’s article is on.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division organized this contest, whereas World Summit Award, Google Developer Group (GDG) Bangla and GDG Sonargaon were co-organizers.
‘Jolpie’ app has become champion in Environment and Health category. The app is working on providing standard health services. Regarding the app, Founder and CEO of Jolpie.com Mr. Abu Sina said-This is a health concerning app. We are working to make health services available for the general people. People can find out doctors in online, get their appointments or can talk to them in online from home through this app. The app, so far, contains information of around two and a half thousand doctors.
Heroes of ‘71
The game of smart-phones named ‘Heroes of ‘71’ became champion in Entertainment and Lifestyle category. A game developing company named Portblis has developed this game based on our great liberation war of 1971. The location is Shanir Chor in Bangladesh. The background is the liberation war of 1971. The hero is a team of guerilla soldiers of East Bengal and the rival is the Pakistani Military team. The team of the guerilla soldiers known as ‘Shamsu Bahini’ is killing all the Pakistani soldiers continuously using rifles, mortars and grenades. Sometimes they are uttering slogan saying ‘Joy Bangla’ with so much zest and excitement. This is the summary of Heroes of ’71, as informed Head of Operations in Portblis Mr. Tanjil Tafheem.
Nilimar Bioscope (bxwjgvi ev‡qv‡¯‹vc)
‘Nilimar Bioscope’, the app to teach children Bangla was the champion in Teaching and Education category. 3D animation has been used in this app. This app helps to teach the children Bangla alphabet through different examples and images. Mr. Mijanur Rahman , the co-founder of the developing company of this app MicroTech Interactive said-The app will help much the children for their study purpose. Touching the mobile screen upon the mentioned subjects, it will move and even, a sentence will be uttered, like in case of touching ÔAÕ, the user can listen the sentence ‘Ajogar ti asche tere’ (ARMiwU Avm‡Q †Z‡o).
Nouka Bice (‡bŠKvevBP-Boat Race)
The app ‘Nouka Bice’ (Boat Race) got champion in Tourism and Culture category. The app has been developed in the way as it is in real in our country. Business Development Manager of the developing company Apnometry Mr. Al-Amin said-Any boat can be selected as per preference for the boat race. It consists of three steps-first one is pond, then a lake and lastly, the user can take part in boat race in the river of Buriganga.
Information regarding health, education, legal support, entertainment, government agency and financial institution will be available in this ‘Kolorob’ app. It became champion in category of Inclusion and Empowerment. The app has been developed by the Bangladesh branch of ‘Save the Children’. Project Office of the institution Mr. Minhaj Mahmud said-So far, the users can have information of 16 Wards in Dhaka in this app. We are still working on uploading the whole information of Dhaka city. Besides, job related information will also be available over here.
‘VAT Checker’ app has become champion in the category of Government’s Participation. Tech entrepreneurs Mr. Zubayer Hossain and Mr. Asif Kamal have developed the app to ensure VAT payment and identify fake VAT companies. Mr. Zubayer Hossain said-After downloading this app in smart-phones, the BIN or VAT Registration Number tagged on the products or services has to be written in a particular box. Then, the user has to click on ‘Check’ button. If the registration of the company is appropriate, it will show, otherwise no information will be displayed. In that case, a complaint will be automatically launched to the authority from the app against that identified fake company.
‘Youth Opportunities’ app has become champion in ‘Mass-media and News’ category. The co-founder of Youth Opportunities Mr. Osama Bin Nur said-Different information regarding apprenticeship, scholarship, education, fellowship and many more will be available in this app.
The ‘DESCO’ app was the champion of ‘Business and Commerce’ category. Shamim Ahsan Chowdhury said-DESCO is providing an opportunity for its subscribers to get electricity bill related information, relative graph of electricity usage, contact numbers for emergency service and office location of a particular subscriber through this app. The subscribers can also pay their electricity bill through Nexus or VISA Card using this mobile app and even, they can share their opinions about the customer services of DESCO. DESCO Facebook page and its website can be visited too through this app.
