After various complications and overcoming several barriers, Robi finally gets acknowledged for merger with Airtel. The mobile phone operator received the ‘Order of Merger of License’ from Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on July 20, 2017.
After getting the merger approval in around ten months, these two leading operators have been basically operated through Robi in last couple of months. But, due to some financial complications, BTRC didn’t allow this license for Robi.
Buta question arises how this operator ran their business without this merger certificate, though Robi stated several times that they didn’t need any certification from BTRC regarding this merger issue.
As per source, Robi, finally, forced to come, providing bank guarantee, received the ‘Order of Merger of License’, due to the additional fees charged by BTRC and VAT complications.
