Chinese government, from the beginning, has been on surveillance over the public movements in social media sites. The country disrupted Google’s Gmail services for the first time in 2014. By this time, the Chinese Government had to ban many more social media sites. Now, they shut down WhatsApp services too. General public of China can’t send images, videos or Voice messages through WhatsApp since July 19, 2017.
WhatsApp authority didn’t react yet regarding this prohibition upon their services in China. Previously, Chinese Government shut down many popular social media sites including Facebook, Google, Instagram, YouTube. Even, the general Chinese people can’t get access to many influential news-media across the world.
