All the readymade garment factories of Bangladesh are likely to be covered up by Digital Map. After its accomplishment, the information of the geographical location of the garment factories including names, total number of workers, number of male and female workers, production running or stopped, what kind of products are manufactured, who the buyers are, location of nearby hospitals and fire service stations, involvement of the factories with Trade Union etc will be available in the Google Map.
Every factory will hold an individual account to update their own information in the Digital Map. Center of Entrepreneur Development (CED), BRAC University will do the job under Digital RMG Factory Mapping in Bangladesh (DRFM-B) project. CED will be able to do the job with the finance of C&A Foundation and the support of Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
Commerce Minister Tofayel Ahmed inaugurated the project at Apparel Club in BGMEA office on July 29, 2017. Among others, BGMEA President Siddiqur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of BRAC University Syed Saad Andalib, General Manager of C&A Sourcing Bangladesh Shantunu Sinha, Advisor to CED Rahim B Talukdar and Project Director Parveen Sultana Huda were present in the inauguration program.
