Government officials are to be restricted in using their personal emails for governmental works. All the officials are to be brought under an identical policy for the purpose of electronic communication. Once it is finalized, usage of personal emails would be restricted in any governmental works.
As per the source, this policy regarding email usage has been developed with a view to maintaining confidentiality of government operations, assurance of greater transparency and cyber security. This initiative has been taken to put the email usage of the officials belonging to government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions under some particular regulations.
A proposal has been presented in the draft-policy to make the usage of email with an identical domain ‘dotbd’ compulsory. Every ministry, division, office, department and institution or the government officials must use the emails consisting of ‘dotbd’ added to their names or designations. All these emails are allowed to be used only for governmental works.
The draft policy already has been uploaded in the ICT website to receive opinions from the general people and government’s policy makers including the ministry and institutions regarding it.
