Mobile phone operators in our country avoided to pay VAT of taka 20480 million on excuse of changing SIM cards, as the Appeal Tribunal of National Board of Revenue (NBR) declared a verdict on it. As per the verdict declared, all the mobile phone operators have to pay this due payment of VAT within 90 working days.
On the other hand, after clearing this due payment, some of the operators won’t be able to take part in the auction of 4G License due to this verdict declared by the Appeal Tribunal of NBR, as the concerned think and if it is so, then the auction of 4G license may get stuck.
Chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Dr. Shahjahan Mahmud confirmed that the mobile operators would get 4G license very soon, thought it didn’t happen so. He previously said-License will be provided within March. But, the declaration of tech-impartial policy in wave usage and auction of radio wave will take place later.
Despite of having a declaration of initiating 4G service within 2016, it is not possible yet.
