Bangladesh Lags Behind in Mobile Internet Speed

Considering mobile internet speed, Bangladesh secures the 120th position among 122 countries across the world. It means that currently, Bangladesh is one of the countries that still remain behind in regard of internet speed based on mobile phones. Condition of Fixed Broadband internet speed is little bit better than mobile phones in Bangladesh. From this perspective, Bangladesh ranks 78th among the 133 countries.

All this information was actually shared by Ookla, an international organization for internet speed testing. The company shared a report titled ‘Speed Test Global Index’ to fix how the condition of mobile and Fixed Broadband internet speed is in a country. Such scenario of internet speed in Bangladesh has been observed in the latest version of this report.

As per the statistics of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), currently, around 70 million and 33 lakh internet users exist in our country and among them, 60 million and 86 lakh people are mobile internet users and 46 lakh are the broadband users. According to the report of different international agencies, number of actual internet users in Bangladesh is 20 million and 25 lakh. Source-Prothom Alo.
