Employees in Ericsson Bangladesh on 'Hunger Strike'

Publish On : 29/08/2017

Employees with dismissal notice in Ericsson Bangladesh are on ‘Hunger Strike’. These employees are demanding for all the compensations due to sudden dismissal from job without notice, including Golden Handshake scheme like other mobile operators provide.

Minimum 60 employees remained on this ‘Hunger Strike’ at the office of Ericsson Bangladesh in Gulshan, Dhaka on last Monday night.

This tech organization issued dismissal notices to minimum 70 employees on last August 18 without any prior notice and any additional facilities for them. As per this notice, none of these employees will be no longer with Ericsson Bangladesh from next September 1, 2017. So, having no other option, the employees of Ericsson Bangladesh has gone for ‘Hunger Strike’ as a means of protest.

General Secretary to Ericsson Employees’ Union of Bangladesh Mr. Lutfor Rahman informed- This Hunger Strike will keep running until all of our demands are fulfilled. A meeting was supposed to get held with the authority on Monday. But, they didn’t do so physically. On the contrary, they had a teleconference with us, though it was not fruitful at all.

The authority is actually killing time as the employee complained and said-Validity of the identity cards belonging to these dismissed employees is going to expire on August 31, 2017. So, the authority is trying to hold back the issue of their justified demands making delay.

Now, the fact is whether this Hunger Strike of the employees in Ericsson Bangladesh can be able to make their demands fulfilled or not. Source-Techshohor
