'Children Should Get Educated on Cyber Ethics'

Publish On : 30/08/2017

Cyber ethics is currently a key issue for our children which they should get educated on. Today, cyber crime is emerging as an enormous concern with the flow of technological expansion throughout the world, as researcher-teacher Zeenath Reza Khan stated in a discussion held on Cyber Ethics. That’s the reason our parents should get to know about their children’s online activities. Children need to be educated regarding some cyber ethics like internet usage. We also have to ensure the security of our children, teenagers and youth in internet world. Besides, they also should get learnt about what to do or not, as remarked Zeenath Reza Khan in a discussion titled ‘IT, Cyber Ethics and Next Generation (তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি ও সাইবার নৈতিকতা এবং আগামী প্রজন্ম)’ held at Prothom Alo office on August 29, 2017.

She also emphasized on impacts of online bullying over children, teenagers and youth. She said-Children can be remained safe if cyber ethics is maintained properly.

Assistant Professor Zeenath Reza Khan of University of Wollongong in Dubai said-Due to lacking of sufficient research work, spreading level of cyber crime in our country may not get revealed. As per a research work, boys and girls in between 13 to 24 years of age spend almost seven and a half hours per day on an average. But, it doesn’t mean that they spend the whole time for constructive purpose. That’s why they get victimized of crimes like cyber bullying, identity theft or cyber stalking.

Cyber crime weakens the youth mentally. Even, their parents, family can’t make out their condition as their self-confidence gets affected very badly and moreover, no outer symptoms are observed too. But, sometimes the teenager or youth getting victim of cybercrime commits suicide from disappointment or being offended. So, besides educating our children, parents should also get educated about technology as well. It is really necessary for the parents to get educated on cyber ethics to monitor their children’s activities in internet.

Therefore, considering all the issues, cyber ethics is considered the effective way to get the the youth as well as teenagers on right track. Besides, it is also a core responsibility for the parents and family as well to keep their children under surveillance, especially for their online activities. In that case, firstly our children should have proper ideas regarding cyber ethics and how cyber ethics can be really effective for them. So, getting our children educated on cyber ethics may show a way to remove cybercrimes. Source-Prothom Alo
