Apps to Help Finding Blood

Publish On : 21/08/2017

We all usually get tensed when we need blood very badly for our relatives, friends or family members. We, then, contact our internal networks to arrange blood. In such condition, an app named ‘Life Plus’ may reduce some tension of the patient’s family. Using the app, we can search our required blood donors, as stated a member of the app development team Mr. Atiqur Rahman.

How It Works

Downloading the app in smartphone, both the blood receiver and blood donor have to register at the beginning. Those who are interested can donate blood by registering. More than 500 blood donors have already registered, as informed Mr. Atiq. The user firstly need to access the ‘Search’ tab of the app to search the donor and then need to select which blood group he or she is looking for. Besides, national ID card and patient’s prescriptions have to be added to the attached file, though the issue of attaching these information has not been fixed mandatory yet. Then, after pressing the ‘Submit’ button, a list will be shown mentioning the information of the blood donors belonging to that selected blood group. Even, the app will also inform how far the donor is currently away from the patient. Let’s make a matter clear. Suppose, a blood donor has registered in this app mentioning an address of Dhaka. Later, if he or she stays in different locations, then his or her current location will be shown in the app through ‘Auto Location’ system of the phone. Registered address won’t be displayed. Then, pressing the ‘Request’ button, a request for blood will be sent to the most nearby ones among the registered donors. After receiving the request, both donor and receiver can contact with each other. That’s because by that time the contact numbers will be shown in the app. After donating blood, the donor can make himself or herself unavailable in the app and then, no one can send him or her request for blood up to three months.

Initiators of the App

Atiqur Rahman, Rashik Zaman and Mushfiqur Rahman of Icaras Team have developed this ‘Life Plus’ app. All of them are the students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET). Among them, Atiqur Rahman belongs to the Department of Urban and Regional Planning and the rest two are of Computer Science and Engineering Department.

Reason to Take Such Initiative

Atiqur Rahman said-Everything is being executed in digital platform in this age of Information and Technology. So, we, the three friends, wanted to do something for searching blood, so that people don’t need to wander to and fro for blood. That’s the reason we developed this app.

Future Planning

We, basically, make a connection between blood donor and receiver. We just need to update the app on regular basis besides some technical development, nothing else. We, actually, are moving on regarding this issue. The more the app users increase, the more blood donors and receivers do so. For this reason, I would like to request those to get attached to this app who are interested in blood donation, as said Atiqur Rahman.

There may be some other apps like ‘LifePlus’ developed in Bangladesh. But, this one differs from others for its remarkable features. It basically, describes everything in a comprehensive way that will make the users comfortable using it. Besides, the app is quite informative, as we, as users, can get vast information through it in case of emergency.

This ‘Life Plus’ app got launched in Google Play Store on last March 26, 2017. It can be downloaded for free of cost from the link https://goo.gl/Zz3Dgw
