Bangladesh Extends Credit Card Limit

Publish On : 11/09/2017

Bangladesh Bank has extended the credit limit of the credit card holders. From now on, up to taka 25 lakh as loan can be sanctioned against credit cards. Previously, the limit was up to taka 20 lakh. Apart from this, up to taka 10 lakh as loan without security will also be sanctioned against credit cards, whereas the figure was taka 5 lakh previously.

Recently, Bangladesh Bank has issued a communiqué regarding this in which it was stated that the growth rate of consumer loans can’t be higher than the growth rate of total loans banks provide.

Lastly, Bangladesh Bank fixed credit card limit through an official circular issued in 2004. These limits have been extended due to increasing demands and aiming to invest the idle-money that the banks have.

In case of sanctioning loans, comparatively, the complications of verification against credit cards are not something remarkable. So, an opportunity has been created to provide loans in short time.
