Get ready for a new battle, gamers. Blizzard's upcoming free-to-play online team brawler Heroes of the Storm will launch on June 2.
You can try out the game even sooner, though, as Blizzard plans to launch an open beta testing period on May 19. Sign up on the game's website.
Heroes of the Storm brings together characters you may already know from the Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo universes to compete in "epic, adrenaline-charged battles," Blizzard said. The game will launch with more than 30 playable Heroes and seven battlegrounds, each with unique challenges.
You'll be able to customize the look of your Heroes with a variety of different skins, and switch between "a stable of special mounts" that will let you cover ground on the battlefield more quickly.
The game will feature a variety of modes for players of all levels — including Cooperative, where you'll team up with other players to compete against computer-controlled opponents, and Quick Match, which lets you jump right in and play against others. Experienced players will also be able to also join forces and compete against other teams in "highly competitive, draft-style ranked play.
The beta will launch after the finale of Blizzard's Heroes of the Dorm collegiate eSports tourney, which will be televised live on ESPN later of the month.
Meanwhile, in addition to the English version, the game will also be available in Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Polish, European Spanish, Italian, Russian, Korean, traditional Chinese, and simplified Chinese.
