Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury said that the government is making efforts to develop e-waste management system in Bangladesh. He said, as part of the effort, e-waste management regulations have already been formulated and an e-waste management plant will be constructed under the BEST project.

He also said that the government is strongly committed to implementing the sustainable agenda. Targets are working to moderate the use of fuel, expand the use of renewable energy and reduce the use of single-use plastics.

The Environment Minister informed the matter while meeting Telenor Asia Senior Vice President Manisha Dogra at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday (19 May 2024). The minister also said that the government is working tirelessly to make Bangladesh a climate tolerant country. Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) targets will be revised soon. The draft of the Enhanced Producer Responsibility (EPR) guidelines will be finalized by June. He urged Telenor to continue working to build a green Bangladesh.
