A technical committee of seven members has been formed to bring down the citizen suffering in birth and death registration to zero. At the same time, Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md. Tajul Islam ordered to complete the technical development while keeping the service running. Also, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak assured to provide technical support to the birth and death registration office till next March.

Both the Ministers gave this direction and assurance in the general review meeting on birth and death registration in the meeting room of the local government department on Monday. This inter-ministerial meeting is held to identify where there are deficiencies or limitations in birth and death registration services.

In the meeting, it was decided to develop the organogram or manpower structure of the birth and death registration office in a timely manner. Also, the committee consisting of seven representatives of National Telecommunication Monitoring Council, Bangladesh Computer Council, Department of Information and Communication Technology and Birth and Death Registration Office has decided to submit a report within the next seven days. According to the decision, this committee will advise for technical assistance in birth and death registration services. Besides, this committee will suggest the increase of server capacity, software design and database creation for birth and death registration services.

LGERD Minister Md. Tajul Islam, while speaking as the chairman of the meeting, said that, when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is moving the country forward at an unstoppable speed, overcoming all obstacles and Bangladesh is an exemplary example for everyone, then any kind of suffering in the birth and death registration service cannot be accepted.

It was informed in the meeting that due to the low capacity of birth and death registration servers, citizens have to face difficulties in getting services. At this time instructions were given for widening of the narrow gateway. According to it, the birth and death registration server should have the capacity to complete at least 50,000 registrations per day, which currently stands at 17,000.

Secretary of Local Government Department Muhammad Ibrahim, Registrar of Birth and Death Registration Office Md. Rashedul Hasan, Chief Executive Officer of North City Corporation Salim Reza, Chief Executive of Dhaka South City Corporation Md. Mizanur Rahman, technical expert officer of Information and Technology Department, representatives of various ministries, birth and death Officials of the Registration Office and Local Government Department were also present.
