Mohammad Russell, founder and Managing Director of E-commerce company Evaly, got bail on the warrant issued for not appearing in court. On Wednesday (January 17), he applied for bail through his lawyer at the court of Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka, Md. Ali Haider. After the hearing, the court granted him bail.

Earlier on Monday (January 15), the Evaly’s Managing Director (MD) Mohammad Russell and his wife and company chairman Shamima Nasreen were scheduled to appear before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Md. Ali Haider. As they did not appear in court on that day, the court issued an arrest warrant against them.

According to the complaint of the case, on March 13, 2021, the plaintiff of the case, Tanveer Hossain, saw an advertisement and paid Tk 245,000 through mobile banking for the purchase of a motorcycle. However, the defendants failed to deliver the goods within a specified period of 45 days.

Then on September 13, Evaly issued a check for the value of the goods. The check was then dishonored even though it was deposited in several banks for encashment. The last legal notice was sent to them on October 22 last year. After not taking any action, the plaintiff sued Md. Russell and Shamima Nasreen.
