The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Post, Telecommunication and ICT has asked to take necessary initiatives to provide internet service at the same rate across the country. Such recommendation was placed in the 23rd meeting of the standing committee at the National Parliament House on Sunday, April 1, 2018.

Honorable Post, Telecommunication and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar and ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak attended the meting presided over by the President of the committee Mr. Imran Ahmed. Apart from them, Moazzem Hossain Ratan, Shawkat Hasanur Rahman (Rimon) and Kazi Feroze Rashid were also present in the meeting as committee members.

Currently, the approved call rate of mobile phones in Bangladesh is between minimum 0.25 taka and 2.00 taka, as it was informed in the meeting. Besides, the average call rate of different packages is 0.58 taka, whereas it was 9.60 taka in the year 2001. Due to introducing 10 seconds pulse service, subscribers can talk with more reasonable rate over mobile phones.
