Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) raised a proposal for VAT exemption imposed 21.75% (VAT, SD and Surcharge) on internet usage on mobile phones. The proposal was raised by the AMTOB leaders in a pre-budget discussion held at the NBR (National Board of Revenue) auditorium on April 16.
In the discussion, AMTOB leaders proposed for VAT exemption on imported 4G mobile phones too.
Secretary General of AMTOB Mr. T.I.M Nurul Kabir said- In case of reducing tax rate on internet usage in mobile phones, overall internet usage will get increased across the country. Resultantly, new companies will get established and government can get VAT from them.
Considering these proposals placed in the meeting, NBR Charman Mr. Md. Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan,NDC said- We are thinking of your proposals and also going through the logics behind them. But, all of you please clear all the dues of NBR. Still you have to pay a lot for VAT and taxes. Image source: Banglanews24
