After winning twice in International Telecommunication Union (ITU) election, despite being in a convenient position, Bangladesh withdrew candidature from the election. Ministry of Foreign Affairs already confirmed ITU about the withdrawal of candidature from the election. The ITU Election is going to be held in the second week of next November in Dubai.
Post, Telecommunication and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar said- Bangladesh gained consecutive success in ITU election which is the outcome of many diplomatic communications and promotions around the election. This year, during ITU election, activities on National Election in Bangladesh will be on full phase. Now the fact is whether we will be able to pay required concentration and take necessary initiatives or not.
According to one of the concern BTRC officials, they already received written commitments from 71 countries for voting on Bangladesh.
Bangladesh got victory in last two terms of ITU election by good margin. It is to be noted that Bangladesh achieved ITU membership in 1973.
