Shameem Ahsan, Chairman of eGeneration Group and Director of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) has received the CIP (Commercially Important Person) status from ICT sector. Mr. Tofail Ahmed, MP, honorable Minister, Ministry of Commerce handed over the CIP cards among the awardees on Monday at a ceremony held at Radisson Blu Hotel in Dhaka. Md. Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin), President of FBCCI was present as a Special Guest among others.

Shameem Ahsan said, “I am honored to be receiving the CIP status and I consider it a huge motivation for me to work harder for the development of ICT sector. As an emerging economy we are still working on the infrastructure and supportive policies that allows technology development. Riding on the high internet penetration, large digital savvy consumers, various government ICT programs and accelerators in action; Bangladesh has the potential to outperform other South Asian countries.”

Shameem Ahsan is one of the foremost figures in the Bangladeshi ICT industry. He played a pivotal role in the implementation of all the major policy changes related to the ICT sector in last one decade. Shameem is a General Partner of Fenox Venture Capital, a US$ 1.5 billion fund head quartered in Silicon Valley. The former BASIS President is currently serving as a Director of Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBBCI), Director of Agrani Bank Ltd. and Chairman of Venture Capital and Private Equity Association of Bangladesh (VCPEAB). His eGeneration Group is among the largest IT conglomerates in the country. eGeneration is also the first Software company in Bangladesh to go for IPO paving the way for other Software companies to raise funds through stock exchange.
