Extra-Ordinary General Meeting (EGM) of APEX ICT Trade Association-Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) has been held. On 19 December (Wednesday) evening the EGM took place at Lakeshore Hotel, Dhaka.
The EGM took place to amend existing laws at BASIS Constitution regarding BASIS Membership, Membership Criteria, Membership Process and Proper Business Nature to become BASIS Member.
BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir presided over the EGM. More than 200 BASIS member company’s representatives have participated at the EGM. Alongside BASIS Members, Senior Vice President Farhana A Rahman, Vice President (Admin) Shoeb Ahmed Masud, Vice President (Finance) Mushfiqur Rahman, Director Tamzid Siddiq Spondon, Director Didarul Alam and Director Mustafa Rafiqul Islam Duke were also present at the EGM.
At the EGM, BASIS President presented some proposals to amend BASIS constitution regarding BASIS Membership Approval Process.
He said, in our 20 years of journey BASIS has become the ICT APEX Body of Bangladesh. Government and Non-government stakeholders look up to us, seeks our suggestion to regulate the ICT Industry of Bangladesh.
In this regard, those companies who are doing IT/ITES business in Virtual Platform are keen to become BASIS Member. Also, Foreign IT/ITES business companies registered under Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms in Bangladesh are also interested to be a member company of BASIS. We also want to create an inclusive ICT Trade Association. Together we will create better growth eco-system. It will foster the development of ICT Sector. In this regard based on the recommendations of membership advisory committee we have proposed some changes in our current membership process.
At the end, BASIS members via voice votes passed the recommendations to modify BASIS Membership Process and amend the Constitution accordingly. BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir concluded the EGM with vote of thanks.
