Information Minister Hasan Mahmud underscored the need for bringing all the online media under a well-equipped policy.
“Online media is a necessity. It’s now a reality. Simultaneously, fair growth of online media is essential,” he said.
The minister was exchanging views with media leaders and activists at Jatiya Press Club Monday (Jan 14).
He disclosed the progress on making the 9th wage board for journalists.
“The gazette notification on 9th wage board for journalists should be published by January 20,” he said.
He said he have already hold discussions on this and will initiate further discussions after going to his ministry office, leaving the Press Club.
Electronic media won’t possibly be included in the 9th wage board as working on it has already been progressed, said Hasan Mahmud.
Necessary discussion will be initiated to include electronic media under the next wage board, he added.
Jatiya Press Club President Saiful Islam, General Secretary Farida Yasmin, BFUJ faction President Molla Jalal, Secretary General Shaban Mahmud and DUJ faction General Secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury, among others, were present.
The new minister was greeted with flowers on behalf of BFUJ.
