Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-4) detained two employees of GrameenPhone (GP) over selling SIM cards to criminals after issuing those in name of various corporate companies.

 

RAB men busted the illegal SIM selling ring and nabbed the duo, in a drive carried out on tip-off on Saturday (Oct 6) night.

 

Moreover, 553 SIM cards, a laptop used for biometric registration and nine tablet computers were seized from their possession.

 

The detainees are—GP Senior Executive (Business, sales) Syed Tanvirur Rahman and Distributor Towfiq Hossain Khan.

 

RAB-4 captain (CO) additional DIG Chowdhury Manjurul Kabir made the disclosure at a press briefing in Karwan bazaar RAB media center on Sunday noon (Oct 7).

 

He said the GP Senior Executive officer and distributor used to issue extra SIM cards while registering corporate SIM. Under the corporate system, all the SIM cards of a company can be registered under one name or identification. Later they sell the extra SIM cards to criminals in exchange of Tk 500-5000 depending on person.
