The E-Commerce Associations of Bangladesh (E-CAB) is a relatively a new trade association In the ICT industry of Bangladesh. Despite its short age, the association has already garnered acceptance and popularity in the industry, particularly for its role in assisting peoples during the pandemic. They put in a lot of effort to meet daily requirements, from food to medicine, and that was impressive.
During the pandemic, the public-spirited work of the association to stand by the defenseless was praiseworthy, as members of the organization risked their lives to stand by the helpless people and offer food and needed medicine.
On the other hand, e-commerce became the only option for consumers to shop during COVID-19. As a result, in the last two years, this industry has grown faster than any other industry in Bangladesh. When compared to the previous period, online sales have increased by 70 to 80 percent during this period. The e-commerce, or online purchasing market in Bangladesh, has reached TK. 6,000 core, according to e-Cab. As a result, the market is becoming increasingly appealing, particularly to young entrepreneurs.
The industry can also help the government attract foreign direct investment. As a result, everyone is interested in who is in charge of this. Furthermore, for the first time in the organization's history, members are able to vote in direct elections. Therefore, the campaign is in full swing. The general membership is also enthusiastically participating in the election campaign.
A total of 36 members have submitted nomination papers for nine positions on the Executive Committee, where a total of 18 people will compete on two separate panels, with the remaining 18 members competing individually.
The panel Agrogami’s revealed the identities of its members a week ago and is pushing hard in the election campaign to connect the members with its election motto. The committee is a combination of associations founding members as well as several newcomers. They hope that by combining the knowledge of the founder EC with the enthusiasm of the new faces, they would be able to make a greater contribution to the e-commerce industry. The other panel titled The Change Makers team has announced the panel as candidate for the upcoming e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) election recently. The team is ready to compete and win. They believe they will change the industry with their dynamic leadership, which will matter to reshape and sustain the ecommerce industry in Bangladesh. Future leadership is critical for whoever wins the election because the organization still has significant structural flaws. As a result, competent leadership is critical at a time when the involvement of regular voters is crucial. It is hoped that the voters will play their role sincerely to select acceptable leaders.
The Election will be held on June 18, where 795 members will cast their votes.
