Bjarke Mikkelsen has resigned as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Daraz Group. Lazada Group CEO James Dong, who is stepping down citing personal reasons, will serve as additional CEO in addition to his current duties.

E-commerce group Daraz conveyed this information on Wednesday (January 24) through a notice on its website.

Bjarke Mikkelsen is the founder of Daraz Group. He oversaw the company’s growth in five South Asian markets including Bangladesh.

He said, “My aim has always been to make Daraz a business that can survive in the market for a long time.”

He also said that he is confident that the new CEO will further enhance the synergy between Daraz and its affiliated companies.

Daraz Group was established in 2015. It has since become South Asia’s leading e-commerce platform, helping thousands of small and medium entrepreneurs grow their businesses through the use of technology. The e-commerce platform started operations in Bangladesh in October 2015.
