The divisional session of 'BPO Summit Bangladesh 2023' started in Singra, Natore. Organized for the fifth time, this largest conference of the BPO industry will be held periodically across the country during the month of May-July.

After the 'Career Campaign' at the college/university level of the Rajshahi Division on Tuesday (May 23), the journey of 'Divisional BPO Summit 2023' began with an inaugural function at Singra, Natore on Wednesday (May 24).

This conference is being organized under the initiative of the Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO)', a single and central trade organization dedicated to the country's BPO/Outsourcing industry, and with the overall support of the 'Business Promotion Council' under the Ministry of Commerce, Government of Bangladesh. Associate organizations included BCS, e-CAB, ISPAB, BWIT, BASIS, WE, and BFDS.

The divisional phase of the BPO Summit is held in two phases. The first phase (career campaign) was conducted in two phases. namely career counseling workshops, CV collection, and job fairs. Then the second phase was held in three stages. Namely- Inauguration Ceremony and Policy Dialogue Session, Career Counseling Session, Job Fair, and Cultural Program.

As part of the first phase, the 'Career Campaign' was organized in Rajshahi Division at Rajshahi University, Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute, Rajshahi College, and Gol-e-Afroz Government College. The first phase career counseling workshop exposes the potential aspects of the BPO industry to the students and encourages them to develop an attractive career in this sector.

On the other hand, the CVs of numerous talented students interested in pursuing a career in the BPO industry are collected through job fairs. Recruitment was also arranged for eligible candidates. BACCO  believes that this campaign will play an immense role in creating skilled manpower in the BPO industry.

The inaugural function of the second phase was held at Singra, Natore Upazila Parishad Auditorium. 

The chief guest of the event, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said overpopulation is never a burden of a country, the population of a country becomes an asset of that country. When they are able to master various tasks. Anyone can easily build their career and be successful in BPO or outsourcing industry. The government is currently working on various IT training projects and infrastructure development to improve the skills of the educated manpower in the country. In expanding the BPO industry of Bangladesh at home and abroad.

The Minister of State for ICT said, that initiatives have been taken to make 500,000 students of 2,200 colleges under the National University skilled in the information technology sector.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, emphasizing on making 5 crore students of the country skilled in ICT, we are trying to transform them into skilled manpower. We will provide internet services to 1 lakh 9 thousand institutions to empower 50 lakh students. Skilled in technology will be developed.

He also said that the ICT department is working to create 25 thousand women entrepreneurs. Already 2000 women have been given Smart women entrepreneur grants. 5 thousand more women entrepreneurs are being created. 10 thousand women freelancers will be created. Equal contribution and participation of men and women have been ensured in the current economic development. Chalanbil will be developed as a smart city. There is an opportunity to create employment for 20 thousand young women.

He then announced the inauguration of the BPO industry and thanked BACCO for inaugurating the “BPO Summit Bangladesh 2023” at the departmental level from Singra, Natore. 

At the beginning of the program, BACCO Secretary General Mr. Towhid Hossain gave a greeting speech to the present Sudheejan along with the presentation of the essay on the topic of 'Current Status and Future of BPO Industry'.

BACCO  President Wahid Sharif said, that the potential BPO industry is now not only Dhaka-centric but also has great potential outside Dhaka. Therefore, BACCO  is working tirelessly to expand the BPO industry outside Dhaka. This departmental BPO Summit 2023 is his initiative.

Wahid Sharif also said,  In the past, the BPO Summits took place in Dhaka, the capital city. But for the first time ever, "BPO Summit Bangladesh 2023" is transpiring at the divisional level as "Divisional BPO Summit". The divisional summits are to be filled with numerous events such as career campaigns, career counseling sessions, job fairs, policy dialogue sessions with local stakeholders, etc. Finally, divisional summits will culminate in the "Central BPO Summit" in Dhaka. Through this summit, BACCO is hopeful to make ways for new strategic development aligned with the aim of establishing a ‘Smart Bangladesh’ and a more effective BPO sector with 1 lac middle-income sustainable jobs for the youth!

He said, In this regard, I must mention that BACCO will need massive support from its fellow industry members for the fruitful implementation of this summit and we are earnestly asking for your cooperation! We believe, with united efforts, we would be able to make this summit a grand success! 

The program was presided over by Abu Nacher Bhuyan, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate. Besides, he was present as a special guest. Saifur Rahman, PPM, Superintendent of Police, Natore; Iqbal Bahar Zahid, President, Founder and Mentor, A Story to Tell Foundation; Naznin Nahar, President, Bangladesh ICT Journalists Forum (BIJF). Finance Secretary Mohammad Aminul Haque was present from BACCO  Executive Committee; Director AKM Ahmedul Islam Babu, Musnad E Ahmed, and Dr. Tanjiba Rahman.  

In programs speakers said, the importance of organizing the ‘BPO Summit Bangladesh 2023’ is immense to fulfill the goal of ‘Smart Bangladesh 2041’ of the Prime Minister to expand the scope of the industry globally along with the development of the domestic BPO industry. The Summit’s ‘Career Campaign’ will play a role in building skilled human resources in the country’s BPO sector and creating suitable employment opportunities for the promising youth.

As the solitary and central trade body and an ardent advocate of the BPO industry; BACCO has successfully organized ‘BPO Summit Bangladesh’ in the year 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019 in association with the ICT Division. The goal was to make a mark on the entire BPO industry, attracting business owners and stakeholders while enlightening young minds about the art of BPO. These fifth summits have succeeded to grab the concentration of world BPO employers towards Bangladesh as an offshore destination that has great potential for BPO.

Through this summit, BACCO is hopeful to make ways for new strategic development aligned with the aim of establishing a ‘Smart Bangladesh’ and a more effective BPO sector with 1 lac middle-income sustainable jobs for the youth.

BACCO, the solitary and central trade body for the BPO/Outsourcing industry in Bangladesh, is relentlessly making every effort with the Government and other national and international stakeholders to achieve our Prime Minister's “Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041”. BACCO now has 300+ members under its wing who are doing wonders in the BPO sector! 

One of our missions is to expand the industry with the aim of creating 100,000 middle-income sustainable jobs for the youth and we have already ensured 70,000 job placements to date. We operate in an industry that has grown to earn revenue worth $700 million; while expecting to meet the target of $1 billion within 2025.
