Team Crack Platoon from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) will represent Bangladesh in the prestigious Formula SAE Japan 2025 — one of the world’s most renowned student engineering competitions where participants design, build, and race formula-style electric vehicles.

The event officially began on September 8 at Aichi Sky Expo and will continue until September 13. Among 90 international teams selected this year, Crack Platoon is the sole Bangladeshi team to qualify — and the only representative from South Asia.

Organised annually by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), Formula SAE is often dubbed the “Olympics of Engineering Students,” challenging participants to meet rigorous international standards across design, cost analysis, business presentation, and on-track performance.

Crack Platoon will compete with CP-Astrion, its third-generation electric race car equipped with Tesla-sponsored battery technology, a lightweight composite chassis, and aerodynamic wings. The team says the car was built to meet all Formula SAE safety and performance standards.

“We’re excited to learn from the best and show that Bangladeshi students can compete on this global stage,” said team captain Saadman Saqueeb. “What makes us different is the story behind CP-Astrion — built with limited resources but with huge passion and teamwork.”

The 28-member team works across divisions including design, electrical, mechanical, and business operations. Sector heads include Saqueeb as captain, Sudipto Mondal (Electrical), Md Habibullah (Mechanical), Md Nayem (Design), and Rafiul Haque Ayon (Business).

Saqueeb said the team hopes its participation will inspire more students in Bangladesh and South Asia to embrace innovation and hands-on learning. “If we can do it, others can too,” he added.
