NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced groundbreaking innovations, including new robot training technology, gaming chips, and a partnership with Toyota, during CES 2025. In his keynote, Huang highlighted the company’s potential for business expansion, reports Reuters.
NVIDIA introduced the new ‘Cosmos’ foundation model, capable of generating photo-realistic videos. This technology enables robot and autonomous vehicle training at significantly reduced costs compared to conventional methods.
The model creates ‘synthetic’ data, helping robots and vehicles understand real-world scenarios. For example, instead of collecting data by driving cars on roads, the Cosmos model can create a virtual world governed by the laws of physics to train autonomous vehicles. However, Huang cautioned that more data is needed to make the Cosmos model fully functional. Like Meta Platforms’ Llama 3 language model, the Cosmos model will be available under an open license.
Additionally, NVIDIA unveiled the RTX 50 series gaming chips, leveraging Blackwell AI technology to deliver cinematic, realistic gaming graphics. These chips are priced between $549 and $1,999.
In a major partnership, Toyota will use NVIDIA’s Orin chips and vehicle operating system to enhance advanced driver assistance technology.
NVIDIA also introduced a desktop computer, ‘Project Digits’, designed for software developers. It integrates NVIDIA’s data center chips with processors co-developed with MediaTek. The system is priced at $3,000.
The CES 2025 conference, held in Las Vegas, runs from January 7 to January 10. On Monday, NVIDIA’s stock price hit a record $149.43, bringing the company’s valuation to $3.66 trillion, making it the second-largest publicly listed company after Apple. Source: Reuters
