Bangladeshi electronics, electrical, and high-tech industry leader Walton has claimed that a vested group is deliberately spreading misinformation against the "Made in Bangladesh" brand to create opportunities for foreign product imports.

In a press note sent to the media on Tuesday, Walton stated, "Recently, certain individuals have staged a human chain and spread misleading propaganda on social media, which has come to our attention. Walton believes that these campaigns are intentional and aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the local industry. A vested group is engaging in a planned smear campaign against domestic enterprises to facilitate the import of foreign products."

The company emphasized that Walton plays a vital role in saving a significant amount of foreign currency while also boosting Bangladesh’s foreign exchange reserves by exporting locally manufactured electronics and technology products to the global market.

As a manufacturer, Walton holds the highest credit rating standard, being a Triple-A rated company. It has consistently been recognized for paying the highest amount in VAT and taxes. Walton ensures compliance in production, marketing, sales, and after-sales service, with its products tested using the world’s most advanced testing equipment. Each product undergoes quality certification from Nasdat-UTS, an internationally accredited testing lab recognized by the Bangladesh Accreditation Board, before reaching the market. The company also ensures adherence to global standards such as ISO, CE, CB, RoHS, REACH, EMC, EU, and USA regulations.

"By maintaining global standards, ensuring transparency in financial reporting, and upholding corporate governance and compliance, Walton has received numerous national and international awards and recognitions," the statement added. Notable accolades include the SAFA Gold Award, ICAB, ICMAB, and ICSB awards.
