Google has introduced two new AI models designed to enhance the rapidly growing robotics industry. Announced on Wednesday, these models are built on Gemini 2.0 and are expected to bring significant advancements to the field. Reuters reported the development.

Among the newly launched models, Gemini Robotics is an advanced vision-language-action model capable of generating output through physical interactions. Meanwhile, Gemini Robotics-ER is designed to help robots comprehend their surroundings and execute complex, logic-driven tasks.

According to Google, these models are adaptable to various types of robots, particularly those used in factories and warehouse management.

The announcement follows a recent decision by robotics startup Figure AI to terminate its partnership with OpenAI. Analysts believe Google’s new technology will lower development costs for robot manufacturers and facilitate faster market entry.

Google has tested Gemini Robotics on its Aloha 2 platform, which can be applied to sophisticated use cases, including robots like Apptronik’s Apollo.
