Starlink, the satellite internet service provider, has officially begun operations in Bangladesh. The company confirmed the news yesterday afternoon via phone and made a public announcement on their X (formerly Twitter) handle this morning.
Starlink is rolling out two main packages: “Starlink Residence” and “Residence Lite.” The Residence package costs BDT 6,000 per month, while Residence Lite is priced at BDT 4,200 monthly. However, customers will need to pay a one-time fee of BDT 42,000 for the setup kit. A significant benefit of this service is that there are no speed or data limits; users can enjoy unlimited internet at speeds up to 300 Mbps.
Starting today, interested customers in Bangladesh can order Starlink’s service. This launch marks a new chapter in the country’s technology sector, fulfilling a long-held expectation within just 90 days of the initial announcement.
While the service is relatively expensive, it’s seen as a high-quality and stable internet solution for premium users in Bangladesh. Additionally, Starlink could be a very useful option in areas where fiber optic or high-speed broadband connections are not yet available. This means NGOs, freelancers, entrepreneurs, and organizations in remote regions can now get reliable high-speed internet all year round.
The Honorable Chief Adviser has congratulated everyone involved in bringing this success to Bangladesh.
Starlink’s arrival in Bangladesh is a major step forward, undoubtedly marking a milestone for technological inclusion and digital connectivity in the country.
