A government initiative to equip madrasa students with digital skills has been launched under the ICT Division’s EDGE project.
The programme, titled “Digital Skills for Students,” aims to enhance the technological capacity of madrasa learners, enabling them to use productivity tools effectively and build competitive skills for the future job market.
The training was initiated by Fayez Ahmad Tayyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology.
As part of the scheme, students will receive hands-on instruction in Microsoft Office applications and graphics design.
The pilot training began on 16 August at Gorosthan Jamia Islamia Darus-Sunnah Madrasa in Tangail, with 160 students enrolled in a month-long course. In the next phase, a total of 740 students from madrasas in Chattogram, Cumilla, and Tangail will participate.
The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) and the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD).
Officials said the project is expected to boost the confidence of madrasa students in using modern technology and help them compete in both national and international job markets.
It also aims to foster a skilled, smart, and technology-driven young generation across the country, they added.
