Bangladesh has implemented a fully digital system for verifying educational and professional certificates, aiming to significantly reduce costs and simplify procedures for citizens pursuing academic and employment opportunities abroad.
According to a statement shared on the verified Facebook page of the Chief Adviser to the Bangladesh government, the new system enables individuals to complete certificate verifications and obtain internationally recognised Apostille certificates entirely online, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This development marks a departure from the long-standing requirement for applicants to visit embassies or foreign authorities in person—a process often criticised for being time-consuming, expensive, and vulnerable to delays.
The government estimates that the digital transition could result in annual savings of up to BDT 700 crore for Bangladeshi citizens.
Officials also claim the move will help combat document fraud by enabling secure, digital verification, thereby streamlining authentication processes for overseas education, employment, and migration.
