In a move to make affordable, quality healthcare more accessible across Bangladesh, Grameen Healthtech Ltd (GHL) and Grameen Distribution Ltd (GDL) have announced a strategic partnership to pre-install the ‘Sukhi’ health app on smartphones distributed by GDL.
The agreement was formalised on Aug 28 in Dhaka during a signing ceremony attended by Grameen Group Chairman Md Ashraful Hasan, GHL Chief Executive Officer Dr Ahmed Arman Siddiqui, GDL Managing Director Md Zahurul Haque, and other senior officials from both organisations.
Under the new agreement, GDL smartphones will come with the ‘Sukhi’ app pre-loaded, eliminating the need for users to download or install the service manually. The integration ensures that users can access healthcare services immediately upon activating their device.
Grameen Healthtech said that the app enables users to consult with doctors remotely via audio and video calls, access home-based lab testing, receive medicines through home delivery, and obtain essential health information along with other digital healthcare services.
Officials from both companies emphasised that the partnership aims to extend digital healthcare services to remote and underserved communities, using mobile technology as a tool to bridge the urban-rural healthcare divide.
By embedding digital medical solutions into everyday technology, the initiative is expected to improve health outcomes and reduce logistical and financial barriers to care for millions across the country.
