Google has launched Pixel Care+, a new protection plan designed to provide extended coverage and simplified repair services for owners of its Pixel devices.

The programme, rolled out in the United States, will gradually replace Google’s existing Preferred Care and Fi Device Protection schemes, which are set to be migrated to the new platform in the coming months.

Pixel Care+ can be purchased within 60 days of buying a device, regardless of whether the handset was bought directly from the Google Store or through other retailers.

In a blog post, Google said the plan allows users to make unlimited claims for accidental damage, mechanical breakdowns, and warranty extensions.

Common repairs, including screen or battery replacements, will be covered at no cost, with all work carried out using genuine Google parts. Customers may also add optional loss and theft protection to their plans.

The service is being operated in partnership with insurance provider Asurion.

Users can submit claims through the Google Store or via the My Pixel app, with the option to schedule repair appointments at convenient locations and times. For replacements, Google said devices would be shipped using free expedited delivery, with next-day options available.
