236 members of three women’s entrepreneurial organizations WE, Wifi and Trishna IT Institute received a grant of 50 thousand taka. This grant is given under the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Academy Establishment Project under the Bangladesh Computer Council. Wi-Fi representatives Mumtahina Kaya, Trishna Deo and Sadia Alam Setu received the token check. WE General Secretary Nasima Akhter Nisha was present at that time.

While speaking as the chief guest at the event, State Minister for Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, today, entrepreneurs who are successful with this grant will be given a non-refundable grant of Tk 10 lakh. After the success of the first time, this grant will be given to 25 thousand women. They will get 5 months training. Only 30 percent of those who received the grant earlier received this benefit. It is not a monetary donation, but a token of love from the Prime Minister. 

In the afternoon, Bangladesh Computer Council Executive Director Ranjit Kumar presided over the check presentation ceremony held at BCC Auditorium of ICT Tower.

While delivering his speech as the special guest, Secretary of ICT Division Md. Shamsul Arefin said, women are advancing in the country in all fields of education, innovation and entrepreneurship. They have started contributing to the national economy as well. If these women can export $10 on average, that figure will be half of this year’s budget.

BCC President said, on the 92nd birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, on August 8, 2022, on the occasion of awarding noble and indomitable brave, smart women entrepreneurs, a one-time grant of 50,000 taka was given to each of 250 women entrepreneurs. A total donation of 1 crore 25 lakh taka was given on the occasion. 

In the same year, “Smart Women Entrepreneur Grant Giving Program 2022” was organized by iDEA Project on the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s 75th birth anniversary. In the said event, a total grant of 5 crore taka was given to pioneering women, including a grant of 50,000 taka to each of 1,000 women entrepreneurs. Also, grants have been given to about 2,000 women entrepreneurs from iDEA project at various stages and we will give more grants in the future.
