Aiming to progress the development in e-commerce sector of Bangladesh, like every year, ‘e-Commerce Day’ was celebrated on the eve of Pahela Baishahkh (Bangla News Year) on April 7, 2018 presented by SSL Commerz. The program was jointly organized by e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (eCab) and ICT Business Promotion Council (IBPC). Starting from April 7, the ‘e-Commerce Week’ will be celebrated till April 13, 2018.
Considering the occasion, a program was organized at the auditorium of ICT Division on April 7 at 5 pm. Honorable Post, Telecommunication and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar was present in the program as chief guest. e-Commerce concern personnel across the country including the member companies of eCab, representatives from the concern ministry or division and different commercial associations and e-commerce entrepreneurs also participated in the celebration.
Greeting all the guests and speakers in the program, General Secretary of eCab Md. Abdul Obayed focused on the background and agenda of ‘e-Commerce Week’. Besides, eCab President Shomi Kaiser, COO of SSL Commerz and Director of eCab Mr. Ashish Chakraborty, Additional Secretary and Coordinator (BPC) Mr. S M Rezowan Hossain and BASIS President Mr. Almas Kabir delivered their precious speeches in the program.
Honorable Chief Guest and Post, Telecommunication and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar discussed about the background and importance of the idea ‘Digital Bangladesh’, government’s aspect towards e-commerce, government’s contribution in e-commerce development, progress of the desired development in e-commerce sector and its expansion procedure and future planning to create an e-commerce friendly environment throughout the country.
Celebration of ‘e-Commerce Day’ and ‘e-Commerce Week’ will play a positive role in the expansion of e-commerce sector in Bangladesh, as said Additional Secretary and Coordinator (BPC) Mr. S M Rezwan Hossain.
