For many gamers, the PlayStation 5 remains out of reach due to its high price. To address this, Sony has launched an official PS5 rental service in the United Kingdom. The company has partnered with leasing firm Rialto to offer this service directly through its PlayStation Direct website, according to a report from Engadget.
The rental program includes PS5 Digital Edition, PS5 Disc Version, and PS5 Pro, all available under 12-month, 24-month, and 36-month lease agreements. The longest-term plan of 36 months allows users to rent the PS5 Digital Edition for as low as £11 per month, while the PS5 Pro costs £35.59 per month. Sony has also extended leasing options to the PlayStation Portal and PS VR2 headset, both of which have recently seen price reductions.
Rialto provides a lifetime warranty on all leased devices, and minor wear and tear from regular use will not incur additional charges. However, users who terminate their contract before 18 months will be subject to a penalty.
While renting a PS5 offers an affordable way to access the console on a monthly basis, it may ultimately be more expensive than purchasing one outright in the long run. However, Sony is also offering an option to purchase the device at the end of the lease. Source: Engadge
