The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has launched a new app on Monday, allowing undocumented immigrants to voluntarily return to their home countries. The app, named ‘CBP Home’, has been introduced by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), according to a report by Reuters.
In a statement, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said, "This app gives migrants the opportunity to leave now so they can return legally to the United States in the future. If they don’t leave, we will find them, deport them, and they will never be able to come back."
The Trump administration is intensifying its immigration policies. Starting April 11, a new regulation will take effect, requiring undocumented immigrants to register with the government or face fines or imprisonment.
With the launch of ‘CBP Home’, the Trump administration has also discontinued ‘CBP One’, an app introduced under President Joe Biden. The Biden-era app had facilitated legal entry into the United States for approximately one million migrants in Mexico. By shutting it down and implementing stricter immigration measures, Trump has sent a strong message regarding his new immigration policy. Source: Reuters
