Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Finance Adviser to the interim government, will announce the national budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year tomorrow, Monday afternoon. However, the traditional scene of presenting the budget while standing in parliament will not occur this time. Instead, he will deliver the budget speech from a studio at Bangladesh Television (BTV). All other private television channels will be able to broadcast the budget speech by taking the feed from BTV.

In addition to television, the Finance Advisor’s speech can also be watched live on the website of the Finance Division, Ministry of Finance. Tests for live streaming BTV footage have reportedly already been conducted on the website. Furthermore, budget-related documents will also be available on the Finance Division’s website immediately after the conclusion of the budget speech.

Prior to the budget announcement, a special meeting of the Advisory Council, chaired by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, will be held at his office tomorrow morning. The proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year will be approved at the meeting. President Mohammed Shahabuddin will then sign it. Following all formalities, the Finance Advisor will go to the BTV building in Rampura with the budget documents in the afternoon. From there, Bangladesh Television will broadcast the national budget speech for the 2025-2026 fiscal year in the afternoon.

The potential size of this year’s budget is reportedly Tk 7 lakh 90 thousand crore (Tk 7.9 trillion). Highest importance will be given to curbing inflation in the budget.
